Social and Emotional Learning

 

In our Primary years we recognise that developing resilient students is crucial to their ability to grow into well rounded, mentally healthy young children and adults.

Mount Annan Christian College is part of the Be You Program, run by Beyond Blue. We utilise tools provided by the framework to support our students and families to nurture happy and balanced children.

We begun working with the framework in 2017 and are continuing to use it to improve our programs in the use of evidenced based social and emotional learning programs, in working with parents, carers and families and to support students who may be experiencing mental health difficulties.

We have developed a sequential approach from K-6 utilising the Bounce Back Resilience Program. We have linked this to our College core values, Christian Studies program and fortnightly Primary Chapel. Our approach to social emotional learning (SEL) is based around our students development in the following five social and emotional competencies;
