The College aspires to provide a Christ-centred learning environment that empowers each individual to enjoy a life of purpose.

The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) outlines several National Professional Standards for teachers that encompass the nature of quality teaching and learning environments. These standards include:

  • Know students and how they learn
  • Know the content and how to teach it
  • Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
  • Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Engage in professional learning
  • Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community

As such, the English programs within Mount Annan Christian College deliver enriching learning experiences that are accessible to a diversity of learning needs and abilities. Students are given opportunities and are encouraged to think critically, discern new ideas and reflect on their own learning. This is completed with the aim of helping students reach their best educational potentials. Additionally, the College is continually seeking to provide students with innovative learning tools. Secondary school has adopted two central technological based approaches to equip students with better English skills. ‘Edrolo’ is specifically designed to provide additional support to HSC English students with online tutorials targeted to the HSC English Syllabus. ‘Literacy Planet’ is an online educational tool, providing students and teachers with extensive resources that cover a number of reading and writing skills targeting our junior students. With the introduction of the ‘BYOD’ (Bring Your Own Device) program, the English programs are adaptive to incorporating the safe use of ICT, as required by the NSW English Curriculum.
