Student Leadership at MACC

MACC’s Student Leadership Council is made up of Primary and Secondary students nominated by peers and staff. The role of the SLC is to be active in service, use their talents and abilities to assist others and enhance their responsibility within the College community to equip them for future opportunities. Our goal is that all students are nurtured to become Christ-orientated individuals, actively participating in their community and glorifying Christ in their actions.

To me, a leader is someone who serves their community and takes action to make a difference in any shape or form. As Jesus once served when he walked the earth, I strive to do the same and serve those around me.

My favourite part of being a student leader is the ability for me to have gratitude to the Lord for the talents and aspirations that he has implemented into my character. When I look towards the future and what I have done for the college, it gives me nothing but motivation to stay solidified in my role.

My favorite part of being a student leader is getting the opportunity to grow as a person. Being in this role pushes me to a higher standard, it has helped me to be more than just under the radar. I also love having the power to make a difference, whether it is in the classroom or on the playground.

My advice for someone who wants to be a student leader is to go for it! At the start I thought I had no chance but look at me now. If you don’t try, then there is no chance of getting through but if you do than there is!

My advice for someone who wants to be a student leader is don’t be scared to just go for it, you don’t know what the future holds for you. Continue to put your best foot forward and try to improve yourself everyday, not everyday will be perfect but that’s ok and learning how to move forward from that pushes you to be a better leader.

Being a leader to me is more than being a role model and a ‘higher up’ to be placed above others, instead, to me it means to be more of a friend that can be a voice for my peers and be a regular face of comfort with any issues whether it’s within or outside of school. Overall, the most important part of being a leader to me is to lead through the example of Jesus Christ, to serve others, not to be served.

SLC Led Initiatives

MACC’s SLC is focused on building meaningful relationships both within the College and the wider community through a range of initiatives.

Winter Appeal

MACC’s annual Winter Appeal raised more than $12,000 for local charity Turning Point Camden, to support homeless people, as well as delivering over 65 boxes of food items for their pantry.

R U OK? Day

Our College community comes together to raise awareness and funds for R U OK? Day, encouraging meaningful conversations and support for one another. It is a valuable opportunity to remind students of the importance of simply asking, “R U OK?”

Harmony Day

Harmony Day at MACC is a vibrant celebration of culture, diversity and unity, where students and staff come together to share and celebrate the rich cultural backgrounds that make up our College community.
