Creative Arts at MACC

The Creative and Performing Arts program at Mount Annan Christian College provides students with a wide range of opportunities to discover, develop, and showcase their talents. From Prep to Year 12, students can explore music, visual arts, drama, dance, and audio visual production through classroom learning, private music tuition, and a variety of extra-curricular performance groups.

Students are encouraged to begin participating in the Creative Arts from an early age, fostering confidence, discipline, and teamwork. Throughout the year, they have opportunities to rehearse and perform at College and community events, building valuable skills and lasting friendships. Guided by passionate and experienced staff, our Creative and Performing Arts program nurtures each student’s potential in a positive and supportive environment.

Creative Arts Opportunities

The Music Tuition Program is a half hour weekly lesson that is offered as a private lesson or shared lesson. Lessons for the music tuition program happen during the school day, with the roster structured according to the needs of the Primary and Secondary Schools. This program enables students from Prep to Year 12 to learn a musical instrument of their choice, from specialist tutors who have extensive experience in various instruments.

The Band and Strings program offers students in Years 4–12 the opportunity to develop their musical talents while performing as part of a group. With a variety of instruments and ensembles available to suit different skill levels and experience, students can build their confidence and musicianship while performing at College and community events. Learning a musical instrument provides significant benefits beyond the classroom, with research showing it strengthens language and reading skills, enhances memory and concentration, and supports cognitive development. Music education also fosters discipline, teamwork, positive learning habits, social skills, and overall wellbeing, equipping students with skills that extend far beyond their musical journey.

Our Musical Theatre program provides students with the opportunity to develop their talents both on stage and behind the scenes in a collaborative and creative environment. Through rehearsals and live productions, students build confidence, teamwork, communication skills, and stagecraft while exploring acting, singing, dancing, and technical production. Whether performing under the spotlight or supporting backstage through lighting, sound, costumes, and set design, every student plays an important role in bringing each production to life. Guided by dedicated staff, the program encourages creativity, resilience, and a love of storytelling while creating memorable experiences that enrich College life.

The Drama program at Mount Annan Christian College inspires students to build confidence, creativity, and communication skills through a variety of performance opportunities. Primary students can develop their talents through the Spotlight Drama program, while students across the College have opportunities to participate in monologue performances, regular showcases, and our Musical Theatre productions. Guided by experienced staff, students are encouraged to express themselves, collaborate with others, and grow both on and off the stage in a supportive and creative environment.

The Dance program at Mount Annan Christian College provides students from Primary to Secondary with the opportunity to develop their dancing technique and performance skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students perform at a variety of College and community events throughout the year, while those seeking an additional challenge can audition for our elite dance troupe, with opportunities to compete in external competitions and eisteddfods. Through dance, students build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and a lifelong love of performing.

Vertical Mentorship and Shared Passion

Our Band and Strings programs operate as multi-age collectives, allowing Primary and Secondary students to collaborate through a shared love of music. This unique environment encourages peer-to-peer mentorship and builds a cohesive performing arts culture across the entire College.

Age-Specific Specialist Programs

To ensure technical growth is appropriately supported, our Dance troupes, Drama ensembles and specialist music groups are tailored to specific developmental stages. These programs are designed to meet the unique social and artistic needs of each age group, providing targeted instruction that challenges and inspires students at every level.

Cultivating Service Through Artistry

Many of our ensembles are intentionally designed to equip students with versatile skills that extend far beyond the rehearsal room. By focusing on practical application, we empower our performers to contribute meaningfully to both the College and the wider community.
