Our Distinctives
About Christ-Centred Learning
As a Christian School, MACC offers many opportunities to learn about and respond to the Christian message. A comprehensive Biblical Studies, Pastoral Care and Chapel program is woven into students’ educational journey, as well as opportunities to serve others both locally and abroad. However, Christ-centred learning extends well beyond this.
Ephesians 4 tells us that God is over, through and in all things. For this reason, we firmly believe that Biblical principles and Christian values should permeate every aspect of school life from policies through to delivery of the curriculum. Our six core values are not only aspirational values we hope to see develop in our students but are biblically based and should be experienced by any encounter a student has in their learning journey.
Additionally, as students encounter the curriculum, they have the opportunity to explore God’s plans and purposes. This will look different for different subjects. For example, History classes have opportunity to explore themes such as sacrifice and service, PDHPE classes relationships, TAS classes creativity, to name a few. Scripture has much to say about these themes and God’s intentions for humans for each of them.
Education these days is very much about developing higher order thinking, encouraging students to become critical thinkers. Christ-centred learning complements this skill. Christ-centred learning allows MACC students the opportunity to gain an excellent education while simultaneously understanding who they are and why God created them, thus enabling them to live a life of purpose.
Christ-centred learning aims to have students develop their gifting, be it academic, creative, sporting, social, leadership or something else, to its full potential and to then go out and use those gifts to the betterment of society, giving glory to God, the giver of all gifts.
This holistic approach ensures that our students are not only equipped academically but also spiritually and socially, preparing them to lead lives of compassion and impact. At MACC, Christ-centred learning shapes confident, caring individuals who are ready to make a positive difference in their communities and the world.
About Wellbeing
We believe that a child who feels happy and safe is a child who will learn. At Mount Christian College, every child is encouraged to feel a sense of belonging — to know they have a voice and will be seen, heard, and known. Meaningful relationships are central to this commitment, grounded in our faith in a loving God and reflected through Christ-like character and care.
At Mount Annan Christian College, the development of the whole child is central to our approach to education. Through the intentional teaching of respect, integrity, and service, alongside staff who genuinely care for each student, we seek to shape both character and learning. In partnership with The Resilience Project, students are supported in developing self-awareness, empathy, and responsible decision-making, equipping them to navigate the complexities of the world around them.
Our commitment to wellbeing aligns with the NSW Anti-bullying Framework and is reflected in the culture, structures, and policies we intentionally foster to create a safe and supportive environment. We recognise that student wellbeing is strengthened through partnership with families and the wider community, helping every student feel safe, valued, and connected.
As students progress through secondary school, our wellbeing framework grows with them. Stage 4 focuses on connection and transition, Stage 5 on identity and leadership, and Stage 6 on preparing students for life beyond school through study skills, stress management, and purpose.
Underpinning this journey is a structured spiritual formation program that guides students from foundational biblical understanding to engaging with deeper questions of faith, supporting character development from Prep to Year 12.
About Academic Achievement
At Mount Annan Christian College, we are committed to delivering a high-quality academic program that supports every student to reach their full potential. Our approach to teaching and learning is intentional, structured, and grounded in evidence-based practices.
In our Primary program, we utilise explicit teaching methods, including the “I do, We do, You do” model, to ensure students are clearly guided through new concepts before gradually moving towards independent mastery. This method provides clarity, confidence, and a solid foundation in each subject area, particularly in the early years of schooling.
Across all Key Learning Areas (KLAs), our teachers adopt an interactive and hands-on approach that keeps students engaged and makes learning relevant and meaningful. Whether it’s conducting science experiments, exploring maths through manipulatives, investigating geography through real-world mapping, or bringing history to life through role-play, students are encouraged to inquire, create, and collaborate. This dynamic style of teaching supports deeper understanding and strengthens critical and creative thinking.
In our Secondary program, we empower students to take ownership of their learning by embedding Learning Intentions and Success Criteria into every lesson, providing clear pathways to success.
Central to our approach is effective feedback, offering timely guidance that helps students reflect and improve. Our teachers dynamically shape instruction by using data to inform practice, ensuring teaching is precisely targeted to meet individual student needs.
Grounded in faith, we seamlessly incorporate Bible threads across all subjects, inspiring students to view their education through a Christian worldview. Alongside this, we cultivate deep engagement through dynamic, real-world learning that sparks curiosity and collaboration.
Ultimately, our Secondary school brings our core mission to life. Our vision is “to provide a Christ-centred learning environment that empowers each individual to enjoy a life of purpose.” By blending rigorous academics with spiritual discipleship, MACC equips students to thrive as purposeful, lifelong learners.
About Educational Innovation
At Mount Annan Christian College, educational innovation is about creating meaningful learning experiences that equip students with the skills they need for the future while remaining grounded in proven teaching practices. From the earliest years of schooling, our approach combines research-informed pedagogy with engaging, hands-on learning that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
In Primary, students learn through developmentally appropriate experiences that encourage exploration and discovery. Outdoor learning, Bush Play, Tinkertime, and interactive literacy and numeracy lessons provide opportunities for students to learn through purposeful play and real-world experiences. These approaches support cognitive development, strengthen memory and problem-solving skills, and foster resilience, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning.
As students progress into Secondary school, innovation takes on new dimensions through authentic, inquiry-based learning and emerging technologies. Our comprehensive STEM program challenges students to solve real-world problems using cutting-edge technologies, including 3D printing, CAD software, CNC machinery, and digital design tools across subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English, and Technology. Through industry-leading partnerships with organisations including CSIRO Generation STEM and the University of New South Wales, students participate in authentic projects, design challenges, and competitions that connect classroom learning with future career pathways.
Innovation at MACC is also driven by our commitment to continuous improvement. We invest in ongoing professional learning to ensure our teachers are equipped with the latest knowledge, skills, and technologies to deliver engaging, future-focused learning experiences. By combining trusted educational practices with innovative teaching, emerging technologies, and real-world opportunities, we empower students from Prep to Year 12 to think creatively, solve complex problems, and confidently prepare for a rapidly changing world.
About Extra-Curricular Opportunities
At Mount Annan Christian College, our extensive extra-curricular program provides students with a wide range of opportunities to discover new interests, develop their talents, and build meaningful connections beyond the classroom. From sport to creative arts to a variety of special interest activities, students are encouraged to explore their passions in a supportive and Christ-centred environment.
Our sports program promotes lifelong participation in physical activity while developing character, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. Students from Prep to Year 12 can participate in a diverse range of sports, with pathways that support every ability, from introductory programs through to opportunities for State and National representation. Guided by specialist coaches and supported by quality facilities, our programs follow best practice in youth athlete development, ensuring students grow in confidence, skill, and sportsmanship.
Students also have countless opportunities to express their creativity through our Creative and Performing Arts program. Whether learning a musical instrument, joining a performance ensemble, participating in drama, dance, or exploring audio visual production, students are encouraged to develop their gifts from an early age. Throughout the year, they rehearse, perform, and showcase their talents at College and community events, building confidence, discipline, collaboration, and lasting friendships.
Our extra-curricular program extends beyond sport and the arts to include a variety of clubs, leadership opportunities, and interest-based activities that allow students to pursue new experiences, develop practical skills, and connect with like-minded peers. Guided by passionate staff who invest in each student’s growth, these opportunities complement classroom learning and encourage students to become confident, capable, and well-rounded individuals. At MACC, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom, helping every student discover their potential and thrive in every aspect of College life.
