Sport at MACC
At MACC, our Sports program is designed to create opportunities for students to engage in lifelong physical activity while developing values like teamwork, fair play and respect.
We aim to provide high-quality, meaningful programs that support the development of the whole student, while also strengthening skills in the sports they are passionate about. MACC’s sports curriculum caters for students from Prep to Year 12 and offers pathways ranging from developmental programs through to opportunities to be selected for State and National representation.
Sporting Opportunities
Each year, students take part in an Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country school carnival. Students who achieve the required placing will progress to the next level. The levels of progression are School based level > CSSA Zone > CSSA State > CIS > NSW Al Schools
Our College is one of 13 different independent schools who have joined together for the purpose of playing sport, as well as growing in our character through regular competition. Schools verse one another on a weekly basis in a round robin setting in a variety of sports.
For Primary students, this weekly competition is called IPSSO (Independent Primary Schools Sporting Organisation) and is divided into juniors (years 3 & 4) and seniors (year 5 & 6). Students need to successfully trial during school time in order to make a team. These teams train once a week on Wednesday mornings.
For Secondary students, this weekly competition is called MISA (Macarthur Independent Schools Association). There are usually 4 MISA teams per term. Each term the sport changes, so do the age groups that sport is being played in.
MACC is proud to offer various co-curricular training activities for students of different ages and abilities. These sessions run during lunchtimes or before and after school. Each term offers a different variety of activities.
Throughout the year, MACC enters teams in a variety of sporting Gala days in our local area, or against other schools associated with CSSA. Some of the Gala days the school attends but are not limited to are; Football (Soccer), Basketball, Netball, Cricket and OzTag. These teams are chosen by the PDHPE team and can sometimes require students to trial for the team.
Along with al the different sporting Gala days and competitions, al MACC students have the opportunity to trial for a large variety of CSSA and CIS representative teams if they have the skills and experience required.
At the beginning of each Term, a calendar is sent out to parents letting them know the key dates coming up to ensure they can nominate their child. From here, students can trial for a sport to make the representative team.
Sporting Success
MACC’s sports program is guided by current best practice in youth athlete development, focusing on skill progression, injury prevention, and age-appropriate training loads to support long-term performance.
Sport at MACC prioritises character, leadership, teamwork, and resilience, ensuring students grow as people, not just athletes.
We cater for a wide range of activities and are always looking to explore new opportunities. Students benefit from partnerships with specialist coaches and professional-standard facilities, giving them exposure to high-quality training environments.
Extra-curricular Sport Activities
We are pleased to offer a range of extra-curricular sports activities for interested students. These optional opportunities allow students to explore interests and enjoy enriching experiences beyond the classroom, further enhancing MACC’s extra-curricular program.
