Technology and Applied Studies (TAS) Coordinator (7-12) ǀ Full Time

Commencing Term 1 2019

Mount Annan Christian College offers teachers and leaders the opportunity to further develop as professionals and work in a school that has grown to be among the very best. The College is seeking to appoint an energetic and collaborative professional to lead the Technology and Applied Studies Faculty into its next phase of development, in relation to curriculum initiatives, and the learning and teaching process. Suitably qualified professionals who have the proven capacity to motivate and mentor others as well as experience leading a Faculty, are invited to apply. Experience in teaching Stage 4 to 6 TAS, including the ability to teach the HSC Design & Technology and/or ITM course, are advantageous. More specifically, it will be advantageous if the successful candidate has experience to take part in the further development of the College’s highly reputable STEM_ed program. The ideal applicant will have a dynamic proactive approach to teaching, immersion into College life, enthusiasm for teaching young people, with experience in the subject area to the HSC level. 

This position reports directly to the Head of Secondary and commences at the start of Term 1, 2019.

 

Key Selection Criteria

  • Lead and manage the TAS Faculty including, modelling best practice in teaching, implementation and design of curriculum (Years 7-12) that meets the needs of our students and NESA, monitoring achievement of students and effectiveness of teachers, dealing with all operational, budgeting and record keeping requirements and ensuring fair and effective assessment procedures.
  • Provide active leadership for all those involved in teaching or supporting the TAS Faculty. This will include mentoring, collaborating and the sharing of information so that staff motivation is at an optimum level to encourage continuous improvement in the quality of learning and teaching.
  • Create effective teams by inspiring and motivating students and staff. Be a positive role model for other staff and students by taking responsibility for the continuous improvement of the team within the context of the College.
  • Provide active leadership in contemporary learning practices that enhance student achievement and performance across all TAS courses, including STEM_ed. Capacity to lead the ongoing development of differentiated pedagogy, authentic learning and assessment which is informed by evidenced-based approaches and the skilled use of data.
  • Qualification in Education and registration with the NSW Institute of Teachers

 

More specifically, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Exhibit successful teaching experience and teach Stage 4 to 6 TAS, including the ability to teach the HSC Design & Technology and/or ITM course
  • Develop, refine and teach STEM_ed initiatives within the TAS curriculum, and collaborate with the Maths and Science Coordinators.
  • Work collaborate within a team to lead in the further development of the TAS Faculty
  • Contribute to an innovative educational direction that exists within the College
  • Support and enable staff members to achieve their best potential
  • Drive academic improvement and results in all areas leading up to the HSC, through TAS programs
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum and assessment
  • Initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Demonstrate well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with students, parents and staff

NESA accreditation and a current WWCC approval number is required.

School Agriculture Aide

The successful applicant will be assisting in the development and maintenance of the Agriculture learning spaces, gardening, planting, pruning, etc as well as providing repairs and maintenance of fencing, tools, equipment etc. 

Experience in handling small numbers of cattle, sheep, chickens, and alpacas, including leading, and feeding will be an important part of the role. 

We are looking for an individual who enjoys working alongside students to assist in guiding their learning.  Some of this may occur outside of College hours. 

Important features are to be able to work as part of a team, however, also be capable of working alone when required. All applicants should have sound knowledge of WHS practices and will be required to adhere to school policies.

Interacting with students and teachers, the applicant should have strong communication skills and some basic computer literacy. 

This is a part-time position working 10 hours per week in total, as the Agriculture Aide.  

A Working With Children Check is required.

Bus Driver

We are seeking someone to take up the role as a trusted bus driver for the morning and afternoon school children bus runs. 

Important features are to be able to work as part of a team, however, also be capable of working alone when required. All applicants should have sound knowledge of WHS practices and will be required to adhere to school policies.

Interacting with students and teachers, the applicant should have strong communication skills.

This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week in total as the College bus driver in a split shift. The bus driver position is not required during school holiday periods and will be on stand down at that time.

A Working With Children Check is required.
