Permanent Gifted and Talented Teacher (0.6)

Commencing Term 1, 2020

An exciting opportunity exists to join our growing school community at Mount Annan Christian College in 2020. We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, passionate, engaging, innovative and dynamic part time Teacher to lead our Ignite Extension Program across Stages 3 and 4. Whilst the role is currently 3 days per week, there is potential for it to increase to a full time position in the future.

About Ignite – A MACC Extension Program:

Our program targets students in the crucial transition years of Years 4 – 8, providing opportunities for extension in key learning area programs, as well as a combination of dedicated and purposeful small group instruction, in-class academic enrichment, one on one academic mentoring and co curricular opportunities. 

The Position:

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled educator with at least 2 years experience as a gifted education specialist teacher, who has a successful track record in leading the development and implementation of effective teaching strategies catering for high potential learners.

The successful candidate will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • NESA Accreditation to teach Primary or Secondary.
  • A minimum 2 years experience working with Gifted and Talented students.
  • Tertiary qualification in Gifted Education or Postgraduate qualifications (or willing to commence within 12 months of appointment) in gifted education.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of gifted education including identification, differentiation, knowledge of twice exceptional students, innovative pedagogy and understanding of the social and emotional needs of all gifted students.
  • Enjoy working alongside enthusiastic teachers to support them in catering for gifted students within the classroom.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with parents and supporting classroom teachers to assist all students to reach their full potential.

In addition we are seeking:

  • A committed Christian with a strong understanding of their faith and involvement in their local Church and an ability to assent to the College’s Statement of Faith.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the ACC Teachers Enterprise Agreement 2019.

English Teacher (7-12) Permanent Full-Time

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, energetic and collaborative professional to teach within the English Faculty. Suitably qualified professionals who have current Stage 6 English experience are invited to apply. The ideal applicant will have a dynamic proactive approach to teaching, immersion into College life, enthusiasm for teaching young people, with professional values and experience in the Faculty area to the HSC level.

More specifically, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Exhibit successful teaching experience and teach HSC English as well as the Extension Courses

  • Contribute to an innovative educational direction that exists within the College
  • Support and enable staff members to achieve their best potential
  • Drive academic programs and results in all areas leading up to the HSC
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum and assessment
  • Initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Demonstrate well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with students, parents and staff

NESA accreditation and a current WWCC approval number is required.

Current First Aid qualification (including CPR and Anaphylaxis Training) required.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, energetic and collaborative professional to teach within the HSIE Faculty to fill a Leave position for Term 1. Due to the growth within the College, this may lead to further opportunities.

Ensuring high quality educational outcomes, to meet the highest possible standards for our students is part of our values and ethos. Teachers should be committed to their own professional development and expanding work practices to fulfil these values.

More specifically, the successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Exhibit successful teaching experience and teach HSC Geography
  • Work collaboratively within a team to lead in the further development of the HSIE Faculty
  • Contribute to an innovative educational direction that exists within the College
  • Demonstrate well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with students, parents and staff
