At MACC we endeavor to not only encourage students to participate in new sports but to form a love for lifelong physical activity and health. Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) forms an important part of our curriculum for students K-10 where students are encouraged in team activities not only teaching them fundamental skills but teamwork, fair play and respect. In Years 9-10, students have the opportunity to elect Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) to further engage and learn about the importance of physical activity. PDHPE is also offered in Years 11-12.
For Secondary students weekly College sport allows them to choose team sports that they are interested in, such as Basketball, Touch Football, Oztag, Netball, Volleyball, Futsal, Cricket, Softball and Soccer. At certain times throughout the year, recreational sports are offered such as Go Karting, Roller Skating, Gym visits, Trampolining, Laser Skirmish or walking groups, which all encourages movement and an active lifestyle.
In addition to weekly sports, there is a range of gala days for a variety of sports which are held throughout the year giving students the opportunity to represent the College. These gala days include:
Students also participate in Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals each year with many students achieving Zone, State and National levels. These events encourage not only great Sportsmanship but also give the opportunity for students to show leadership in running Houses and assisting on the days.
The College is a member of CSSA (Christian Schools Sports Association) and CIS (Combined Independent Schools) which allows students to be nominated for representative teams and a number of past and present MACC students have represented their state and country and made wonderful achievements.
We also have an excellent air conditioned state of the art Multi-Purpose Hall with change room facilities, grandstands and courts that can be used for multiple sporting activities.
